Microsoft is ending support and patch updates for Windows XP SP3 and Office 2003 on April 8, 2014

What does this mean for your organization?

Any Windows XP computer will become extremely vulnerable to attackers, and cause you to become non-compliant with PCI, HIPAA or SOX, etc. And at that time Vantage Point may charge by-the-hour for any worked performed on any Windows XP computers.

If your organization has more than a few XP computers in use, we suggest that you immediately budget to replace an appropriate quantity each month to get the number down to zero by April. Depending on your type of Managed Services contract, it is possible that we limit the number of new computers installed per month to 2-3. If you need to exceed that number in a given month we may need to quote a small project to replace the computers.

Replacement computers typically range from $695 to $995 depending upon desired speed and the role of the user. For basic users the $695 model is adequate. Power users will want the $995 model. Add $225 for Microsoft Office 2013 Home & Business.
